$35 per person includes hosted bar featuring a variety of local beer, wine, cider and non-alcoholic beverages; light refreshments, and all art-making materials needed. You may also bring your own art supplies if desired.

Unlike other Paint and Sip events that have you copying the same picture as the teacher's, Process Paint & Sip focuses on bringing out the inner artist you might not even have known existed, using basic techniques anyone can learn.

"Process painting", sometimes known as Intuitive Painting, is a style of expressive art that focuses on the experience of using color, form, composition, and the properties of  paint and mixed media to build layers on a surface. Art pieces are built using a connection to one's sensory experience, allowing us to tap into the intuitive creative force. Once you learn to "trust the process" and build an image one step at a time, it's simply magical what can be brought forth!

Focusing on process, rather than the finished piece, frees us up to play, explore and  experiment, without being afraid of "getting it wrong" or comparing  ourselves to others. Many folks also find this method of painting helps them feel more comfortable and relaxed in the present moment, energized and delighted.

During the evening, we will:

~ Gather for social time, enjoy a drink, view art in the Studio Gallery, and have a chance to meet the instructor and ask questions,

~ Learn and practice a few basic principles of successful painting in acrylics, and learn how to develop a design in the process painting method,

~ Enjoy music and painting time, with instructor guidance along the way,

~ Share, appreciate, hang out and have fun!

Participants will go home with at least one completed art piece, and the knowledge of how to continue process painting on your own time.

You also have the option of working on a more complex painting over several Paint and Sip sessions, if desired.
