About the event
COST: Donation based event, no one turned away for lack of funds. Look for the tip jar up by the stage. Your contributions help us bring more amazing events to Florence!
The Spring Equinox marks the halfway point between winter and midsummer. Celebrate the Return of the Light with us and shake off the winter blues with this Ecstatic Dance offering, featuring a live guest DJ and an outdoor stage setup.
Ecstatic Dance is an expressive practice where we move in a way that feels good to our bodies, without fear of making a mistake or missing a step. Imagine dancing in tune with others around you, each tapping into and freely expressing "what moves them", in harmony with delicious music and beats, in a space that feels safe and welcoming. Imagine being able to participate regardless of who you are, and whether you have dance experience or not. Imagine how much freedom and well being it could bring, when we feel connected to ourselves, others and the world around us. Welcome to the Ecstatic Dance experience!
We will begin by gathering on the public beach located just beyond Driftwood Shores Resort in Florence. Free parking is available just to the S. of the hotel; paid day-use parking is a short drive to the North. (Please note, parking at Driftwood Shores is reserved for people visiting the hotel and cafe'.)
This form of dance is open to all people and ages, of all levels of ability. There will be a short walk over a sandy trail to get to the beach from parking.
We will get started promptly at 11:00am with a warm up and opening circle, where we will set our intentions for the dance. Once the dance session is over, there will be a closing ceremony and a chance to share any feedback about your experience.
This dance will be RAIN OR SHINE, so make sure to bring what you need for the weather. We also suggest you include anything you need to take care of yourself during the event, and to respect your own limits and those of the other dancers, as appropriate. Your dance hosts will be on hand for help and support, during the event.
You are welcome to bring family, friends and your favorite outdoor toys. Well- behaved doggies are also welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon!
